I know the feeling; the fics of mine that get the most attention are definitely not the ones that I'm most proud of or that I put the most effort into. It's not a writing-quality issue for me, but the fic I have with the most kudos by far was a 2500-word kinkmeme fill that I wrote at 3am one night, not any of the ones I invested months of thought and emotional investment in. *shrug* Fandom likes what it likes, I guess.
