Most fandom memes aren't funny to me.

While I enjoy a lot of it, the Sherlock animals. Like Otterlock, Tunalock, Faunlock, John!Octopus.

pet trolls in Homestuck. Making a sentient species to pets who are enough to talk in simple english, brrrrrr...
The Homestuck fic with the most Kudos on A03 is in fact the originator of the trend.

I get the appeal is kid fic + furry + fluff + hurt/comfort + pedophilia (well, for most not all of it at one), but it's really puzzling how SJ the fandom is normally. There's little awareness for the racist implication (s. the original fuzzy nation novel, wiping out their culture) and even defenses of BNF who say "well if we found a sentient species like that, we would hold them as pets/children/prostitutes for sure! It's realistic, so it's ok!"

I think most/many of them are supposed to be dystopian. The point is that it's terrible and wrong. And also cute.

I sometimes get annoyed when one little thing gets picked up my fandom and it appears in EVERY SINGLE STORY.

Mal-ferret in reference to Draco Malfoy irks me to no end. I'm sure there's some for Hunger Games but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

My fandom is still stuck on wing-fic. Jeez, didn't that die a death five years ago?

That and Supernatural or Sherlock crossovers. I like Sherlock too, but I would be so happy to never see another Sherlock corssover-fusion fic ever again. Especially ones where Sherlock is telling John his wings are beautiful.

Teen Wolf and the whole Derek is a failwolf thing. Just never clicked for me I guess. It's occasionally funny but mostly I just find it sad.

The whole "Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons"/"Big Four" thing (which are, imo, both very silly names). I don't know where it came from, don't see the appeal, and thought it would fizzle when the ROTG fandom stopped being the hot new thing, but a year later, it's still going strong. I am baffled.

There's this trend lately in my fandom of captioned gifsets where canon characters are having conversations in idiotic LOLCat-type speak, and I don't know whether it's just that a lot of them are really poorly done or if it's intentional for some unfathomable reason, but they're so stupid. Like, not clever or funny or cute even having any point whatsoever a lot of the time. Just really, really lame. Drives me up a wall.

Nah, Supernatural. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a thing across multiple fandoms though.

Right now the Attack On Titan fandom has this bizarre 'joke' of Jean having a horse face, is a horse, is hung like a horse, is generally horse-like, etc. People have taken a Scouting Legion jacket and thrown it on the back of their horse and taken a picture going 'lolol it's Jean!!' or wear a cosplay outfit with some horse masks on, etc.

Even if I knew the origin of the 'joke', it's getting really fucking old.

Also feminising the fuck out of Levi. He's short. That's it. But apparently that's enough to draw him in stilletto heels and maid outfits. The fuck?

And in my old Megaman X fandom, it was fangirls insisting that Vile and Dynamo were okay guys who were also bishies. They had little to no characterization, were complete monsters, and the heroes hold them in total contempt, but apparently fandom didn't get this memo. And I don't mean that they made excuses for their behaviour or glorified them like fangirls do with other villains; they just pretended they were like ordinary reploids who were never Mavericks at all. It just blew my mind.

The origin of the joke is in a later episode where Eren says he looks nothing like that horse-faced Jean. Seriously, that's it.

And yes, the joke is now ancient.
