I get so sick of people looking at someone else's popular work and going "that doesn't deserve attention as much as MINE does" or "THIS DOESN'T DESERVE ANY ATTENTION"

Yeah yeah I know sometimes it's true....but usually it comes off as douchey and rude.

Oh my God, this so so SO much.

There are a bunch of people in my fandom who periodically whines like this. "You should rec other fics other than fic A, for example fics B, C, and D" which casually, are fics written by people of that same faction of the fandom. "I'm sick of people talking about fic A." "Why do people don't talk more/draw fanart/do stuff for fic B like they do for fic A?" "probably people who read fic A aren't capable of appreciating true quality fics" (passive-aggresive comments, my favorites!) They are loud and obnoxious (I happened to block most of them yesterday for this reason btw).

Well, for starters fic A's fame is well deserved. Second, I'm sorry, but always I get this huge vibe of "I want MY fic to be the popular one, not THAT one", thirdly, yeah, your fics are well written, but I've tried to read them and they BORE me out of my skull, while fic A never fails to entertains me. (And I'm not even touching the subject of your nasty online personalities). And let's not forget, maybe you should, you know, start creating comms/discussing/drawing fanart for those other fics if they are as good as you say. People do all these things for fic A for a reason; the fact that your fics fail to cause the same reactions among its readers is also for a reason.

I'm aware not every fandom is like this, but mine sure is. (I know I'm way out of the topic of this secret, but, ahhh, feels so good to let out this annoyance that's been bothering me for months now).
