I said this many months ago when I knew nothing about this character and will say it again now that I know more:

The new costume is boring and unmemorable. You wouldn't be able to pick it out of a lineup of other superhero costumes.

The old one wasn't much better but at least the logo was distinctive.

That kinda sounds a bit neckbeardy to me. Like the 'people' who complain about powergirls new costume being 'ugly' now. Funny how ugly also happens to mean "Not slutty" anymore, isn't it?

The newest costume is okay. but the first new costume was horrible.

Meh, like I said, her previous costume wasn't any better really. If they wanted to do something distinctive they could have given her an actual jumpsuit rather than a leotard with leggings and a zipper. Or it could have bean much more clearly military inspired or anything other than "dark blue, dark red and make sure to hide that gold star in the zipper, we don't want people to actually notice it or anything". As it stands it's a very boring leotard with darb colors and a logo that doesn't stand out and is not easily identifiable. Having leggings attached to it doesn't make it brilliant, remarkable or exceptional. If leggings is your yardstick for a feminist design, please remember that a lot of female superheroes have lycra leggings. The 90's X-Men cartoon, for one, had almost everyone wearing them. It's not as revolutionary as you'd think.

Except this isn't true at all. I can't think of several attractive, not "slutty" female costumes without even trying:

Stephanie's Batgirl costume tops the list. The costume is functional and fits in with the rest of the Bat family, but is memorable and has a distinct Steph flair to it.

Donna Troy's starfield costume.

Mockingbird's costume, when they gave her pants instead of a swimsuit.

Kate Bishop's Hawkeye costume shows midriff, but I'd hardly call it slutty and, much like Steph's is very much a reflection of who she is.

So, no. Your two examples are both ugly as sin. PG's new costume is a boring-as-hell white unitard, and Carol's is just visually unappealing, imo. It's nothing to do with short skirts and boobs and everything to do with personality reflecting the character, doing them justice and, as others have said, being memorable. Giant yellow lighting bolt on a black field? Catches the eye. Dark, dark and more dark with vague lines? "meh".

Yes black swimsuit with a random lightning bolt and her butt crack hanging out, SO DISTINCTIVE.

The new one is fantastic and well fitting of her character.

No because her new costume is easily one of the coolest costumes in Marvel's current lineup.

It's not just the fact that she's not objectified in it that makes it a better fit for her character. It's the design on the whole. It's military-esque for one, sort of like a flight uniform. It fits her as a person.

I love how you all conveniently ignore that I said it wasn't any better. The lightning bolt was at least visible and stood out. The star thing they have going on just looks like a mix between the costume piping and the zipper. It might as well not be there. What are they ashamed of her being a superhero?

Oh yeah, I forgot, a zipper that goes all the way down her front and clearly ends up her ass is SO FANTASTICALLY FITTING, am I right?

The star is plenty visible. It's BRIGHT YELLOW for one. And wow a zipper?? How nonsensical.

Where the hell are you getting that the zipper goes into her ass? You can SEE where it ends in tons of images. It ends right around her waistline. There's no ass involved.

Let's redefine "waistline" shall we? You see where she'd bending slightly at the WAIST? that's the WAISTline.

It's lower in that image than it is most other images, to be fair.

You might need to redefine 'below the crotch' though, because that's above a woman's crotch.

Still, better above the crotch zipper than thongtastic swimsuit any day. And that's closer to waist than it is 'butt'.
