I don't mind so much because instinctively when I'm reading in my head I pronounce it "loo tenant" so if I'm going along with a story it takes me out of his voice because my American experience just overpowers it. So if you preempt it by spelling it how he pronounces it, I can still hear him. (Just a small advantage.)

But yeah I can understand how purposely spelling words wrong is annoying, just not enough to make me enjoy a show less.
