I actually like most of the fanart I've seen, third eye and tattoos and all, but in my head Cecil is always human. Or mostly human. Usually cute, but in a nondescript way. I don't like the idea of Cecil with tentacles at all and a lot of the weirder/more elaborate head-canons don't click with me.

But I guess that's the beauty of WTNV; everyone can imagine him how they want! (Well, there are vague guidelines, but those too will be ignored occasionally.)

All of this! My Cecil is always almost human (my headcanon is that he looks almost entirely human but that the Nightvale denizens are all extremely long lived so Cecil looks in his 30s but is far, far older) but I'm okay with a single ~unusual~ feature like tattoos that slowly shift and change or whatever. But subtle, you know? Nothing like tentacles.

And yes, I hope that Cecil's appearance is never fully defined. I want him to always be someone that the listener can decide for themselves.

Yea, I like some of the features I've seen people give Cecil. The tattoos are super pretty imo, and the third eye isn't bad and does look cool, but it seems like people want Cecil to be incredibly unique in a way I just can't imagine as true or even necessary. I like that he sounds like a fairly average guy and that the crazy shit going on around him doesn't typically faze him. It's a hoot.

Making him some kind of abomination or whatever takes away some of the 'magic' for me.
