Even if people ship something squicky and fucked up, why does it matter? It's like Wincest fans- they already know their pairing is taboo so they don't need anyone to slap their wrists and tell them why it's wrong. It's like, who cares? Ship and let ship.

"But I will call people out for shipping something that is inherently squicky or fucked-up and treating it like it's cute and fluffy and adorable without acknowledging that it's screwed-up"

think you missed that line, anon.

No, I read it but I don't think it matters. People don't have to apologize for their weird ships any and every time they mention them.

i don't think people should have to apologize for them, but i also think it's pretty skeevy when people act like a ship that's, say, dubcon incest is somehow sweet and cute and has nothing wrong with it. it's not the pairing but how the people treat it to me, if that makes any sense. in the case of something like an abusive relationship i can see why someone might be upset by people romanticizing it and acting like it's totally okay because they're ~in love~ or whatever.

if you're going to make it all happy and fluffy then why are you shipping a pairing that is by its very nature kind of fucked up?
