Yeah, my brother has been officially diagnosed, and honestly most of the time he irritates the crap out of me. I know he doesn't mean to, it's just that he doesn't know how to have conversations without turning them to anecdotes about My Little Pony or Spongebob, but that doesn't make conversations with him any more enjoyable. :P

(Also, he WOULD feel bad if he knew he was annoying, but I would feel bad for making him feel bad if I pointed it out, so I just sort of let my parents and the counselors and whatnot do their jobs. :P)

Softly tell him he's being annoying. Not in those exact words, but maybe steer the conversation away from those topics and onto other things.

I try, but the problem is, er, I'm pretty socially inept myself and am really, really bad at trying to direct (or even maintain) a conversation.

Which may be why he always winds up veering off into MLP or Spongebob, actually, now that I think of it. -_-
