Spreadsheet anon?

(Anonymous) 2013-10-26 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
What is that anyway?

An anon who keeps info we share here all in a spreadsheet.

An anon who has said that they go through threads where people talk about personal details and record various users' answers in a spreadsheet so they have a record of a whole bunch of info about them, I believe.

I am super smug about the fact that at best they could take a wild guess as to my gender and nail my location with an error range of five timezones. Other than that, f!s knows nought about me.

Is it really though? I have a horrible memory so I've taken to keeping notes about things people say so I can just keep track, otherwise I would never remember who anyone was. So I can understand what spreadsheet anon is doing, they're just more organized than I am. I don't really consider it creepy.

Of course that depends on how much and what kind of details spreadsheet anon tracks and what exactly their motivation is, I suppose. They've never said.

Spreadsheet anon is the person who makes me feel really weird and awkward about remembering things from conversations I have with people.

Excel is such a bad way to do it though.

Spreadsheet anon plz your intelligence system is severely lacking lacking.

You could creep at such a higher level if you chose a better platform.

I don't know what's available in the private sector off the top of my head, but I would be genuinely amazed if you didn't have things programmes available mimicking the basics of all the police and military intelligence systems.

So...judge a program, but offer no alternatives?

Yeah, that's super useful.

I'm not the person spending a significant amount of time stalking people.

If they want to waste less time, they can look out a specific option, I was just judging their choice.

....Excel is a good system for simple data gathering and organisation though. Just because it's easily available =/= it's a shit platform

It's passable if you've got a limited number of basic data points in exclusion, and provenance is unnecessary.

And here I totally thought spreadsheet anon was a myth! I remember GC had a personal question nearly every day for a while, and people became suspicious and wondering if someone was keeping track of the answers.

I didn't realize anyone actually was, but I guess you couldn't put it past someone on the internet to be that creepy.

Spreadsheet anon, or at least someone claiming to be spreadsheet anon (dun dun dun), has commented here and described what kind of info they compile and how, etc.

Spreadsheet anon did say they weren't the anon asking all those daily personal questions. And that they weren't here daily and didn't write down *everything*. But then, it's all anons so who's to say, right?
