Re: Soft sci-fi children's books recs?

She might be a little young for these, but I'm going to recommend Charles Stross's "Laundry" series (starts with The Atrocity Archives) anyway, as it's pretty much a mashup of post-cyberpunk and Lovecraft, with a serious amount of spy fiction thrown in. I honestly can't remember if there was any questionable content outside of maybe having to explain what gay people and Nazis are (not the same character, fyi), but it was pretty good. Second book has a lot more borderline-sexual content, but that's expected from a book that has a controlled invocation of the mystical properties of a James Bond movie plot.

I also feel like I should rec Animorphs here, just because I read like 27 of those damn things as a 12-year-old myself. I'll add on if I manage to think of any more.
