I thought for a few minutes this past week that they'd recast the actress. (I grew up on soaps, it seemed logical....) But then I just figured that since I hate Laurel, I don't pay enough attention to what she looks like. (It took me probably 4 or 5 episodes to be able to tell at a glance which character was the ex girlfriend and which one was the little sister.)

Did she have work done?

I wondered about that too! I think the actress lost some weight.

Yes, she just lost some weight. It affected her differently because of the way she lost weight and the fact that she lost quite a drastic amount in a short time.

I didn't realize it was weight loss. I just thought she colored her hair differently or something. It does look lighter to me. But, as I said above, it took me way more episodes than I would admit in public to tell which one was Thea and which one was Laurel. I just called them "Bland Brunette" #1 and #2 for awhile.

I semi-watched Arrow with my BF for a while and they cast the actresses a bit too much alike. I got massively confused for the same reason. "Wait that's the sister, why's she acting like he's -- WAIT NO, ex-girlfriend. I think. Or is this some one new?"

Idk if she had a chin implant/work done or just lost weight like other people are saying. She just looks different in the show to me.

But if she has been training for her role on Arrow, maybe that means Laurel will do more badass things on the show which is always a good thing in my books.

I'd be cool with Laurel actually doing something beside judging Oliver all the time.

Who is she? What's wrong with her face?

It seems that she lost some weight between seasons, so her facial features appear to have changed.

It's Katie Cassidy. She's lost some weight. Apparently this is a crime.

Okay, I just looked her up and yeah. She doesn't look that different, judging by the images I saw. Just lost some weight. Though the pic OP chose is awkward looking, mainly because it's a photo that's caught in an odd in-between smiling move.

But then, I have trouble recognizing people when they dye their hair. So maybe OPs just the same, only with weight-loss/gain.

Katie Cassidy? She...lost weight. That's literally all she did.

I realize this is hard for some people to comprehend, because we have apparently been conditioned to believe that when a woman's looks change, it's because of plastic surgery, but that's what happened. It's not that hard to figure out. She lost a drastic amount of weight in a very short time and gained quite a bit muscle because of... Fight training? I think it was fight training.

Her face does look very different just from losing weight, but if you combine that with her body type (her height and the length of her limbs) and her hair color and the fact that she is not in her early twenties anymore and - gasp - your facial features can change as you grow older, I really don't understand why people are weirded out by this change. It's completely natural. Not plastic surgery. There is literally no way it could be plastic surgery. It's literally astounding to me that people think that. It makes zero sense to me.

And if that's your reasoning for dropping the show, you're a horrible person. So. No one will miss you.

Um, you do realize that the reason her face looks different in that particular picture is because she was moving her mouth when it was taken, right?

So. Last year Katie was called fat and accused of having a double chin. This year she must have had work done. Yep. Sounds about right for the Arrow fandom. Stay classy.

This year, she only has one chin, but it's kinda doing the work of two.

Not the OP, but I don't think this is about the weight loss between seasons 1 & 2. There were a lot of complaints even back in season one that she'd been using Botox on her face (which I don't know if it's true or not) because of how it seemed like her face, especially her forehead, never moves.

What? Her face never moves? Yes, it does. Just another ridiculous complaint from people who have never seen plastic surgery in real life.

This reminds me of those "before and after plastic surgery" or "did they have plastic surgery?" slideshows of celebrities where I find myself squinting at the screen, thinking "Well, they don't really look different. Either the surgery only made very subtle changes or they're just a bit older with different makeup and lighting." People do change in appearance due to aging, weight loss/gain, and other factors. Some of the folks I knew in high school look really different now, 15 years later. It doesn't help when you might be comparing photos or footage where makeup, hair, wardrobe, lighting, and angle are dramatically different. Just because someone looks different doesn't mean they had "work done."
