(Anonymous) 2013-10-27 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)Curious where you live? Because ugh I live up northern Maine up near Canada and winter is not just gloomy days, it is literally lack of sunlight. The nights are so fucking long and whatever "daytime" we get is always gray and cloudy, so you never see the sun.
I do love dressing warm and bundling up, though. And I love snow. One of my all time favorite things to do is take walks in the woods/fields either during or right after a snowstorm. It's the most peaceful beautiful experience.
And Summer is cool here mostly because it doesn't actually get hot. It's rare to get 90s most years. I spent a summer in the midwest once and reacted pretty much like you said. It was sticky and hot and made me cranky and miserable the whole time. I hated it.
If I could live somewhere that had long Springs and Falls and maybe like two months of snowy winter and a mild sunny Summer - that would be my perfect land. I don't think it exists though.

We live in a river valley and we're technically in the Southern US climate zone, so we get the worst summers. I'm from Michigan. I shouldn't have to put up with this shit.
