Recs for World War One fiction?

I really want to read or watch something really good set during WWI. Does anyone have any books/shows/movies set during this time that goes into extensive detail about the effects of the war both at home and on the battlefield?

Movie; Sergeant York! "True story of a hillbilly sharpshooter drafted in WW1 despite his claim to be a pacifist, who ends up becoming a war hero."

as for books, 'Rilla of Ingelside', last of the 'Anne of Green Gables' series, shows the homefront perspective of those left behind when the boys go to war. Really really good.

+1 Sergeant York is great.

For a book I'd rec Company K by William March.

Well, if you don't mind a bit of fantasy, Mercedes Lackey's Elemental Master's series [specifically the Phoenix one] does talk about conditions on both the war front and the home front. It's not the main point of the story, but it is a part of it, to the point certain conditions of it help drive the plot forward.

Pat Barker's Regeneration trilogy. (Regeneration, The Eye in the Door, The Ghost Road) They are all really good, I think the first two were nominated for the Booker prize when they came out and the third actually won.

Paul Fussell's The Great War and Modern Memory
