Re: Episodes/arcs that you refuse to accept as canon?
They gutted it of complexity, took out numerous interesting race types, traded around the names of race types so as to hand something they deleted to something as boring and prosaic as a group of Elves, killed off whole pantheons of gods so that their subject race has absolutely no alternate options to worship except the one deity that is WotC's favourite pet deity, and the one god there's sign will be eventually brought back, they still gutting her of some of her most interesting followers when they had her portfolio go totally nuts due to her death.
I rather hide in 3E where Mystra is alive, Eilistraee is alive, celestials, devils and demons can breed with mortals and leave behind descendants with traces of their powers, Drow - even the evil ones - have more options than just Lolth, and the coolest of Mystra's Chosen are still alive and well and magic is not a huge mess.
