TRUTH.

So much truth.

A fictional example (to go with the historical example in the OP) is Mad Men. Don Draper--the serial cheater who gaslighted his wife, the negligent parent who pawns his kids off to any remotely maternal figure nearby, the fraud, the fascinating but extremely flawed main character has crazy amount of fans. His ex-wife Betty? Is absolutely slammed. Slammed for all the same things for which Don gets a pass, *especially* parenthood. Betty us certainly flawed but at least she's THERE. Don has abandoned his family on several occasions. I pretty much detest most Mad Men fans.
