(Anonymous) 2013-10-30 01:12 am (UTC)(link)I'm just really curious because while I know people who aren't interested to see it, I don't know anyone who's seen it who didn't like it.
Re: Gravity in IMAX
(Anonymous) 2013-10-30 01:29 am (UTC)(link)I was bored to tears and didn't really care if the characters lived or died. I just wanted something exciting to happen. It was pretty to look at, but it was an hour and a half of "Should I just walk out or should I stay because I paid $30 to see this?". I stayed, but in the end I felt like there was a lot of buildup and very little reward. I've never considered leaving a movie early before, and I've seen some bad ones.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-30 02:00 am (UTC)(link)1 ticket + 3D glasses, 1 popcorn, 1 drink = $27 and some change, I think

(Anonymous) 2013-10-30 06:30 am (UTC)(link)There's your problem. For goodness sake, don't ever by snacks at a movie theater unless it's an art house place that really needs the money or a budget theater that's already cheaper anyway. Go out to eat after the movie.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-30 02:03 am (UTC)(link)I'm sorry you feel that way. I just finished watching it in imax and it was amazing!

Re: Gravity in IMAX
DEFINITELY SEE IT IN 3D! They're using depth of field to great effect and it'd really lose something without it.
As for Imax, it's probably very awesome but 3D is the most important thing. I've never seen an Imax movie that wasn't a documentary on one of the curved screens in a science museum, so I'm not entirely sure what the experience is like for a normal film.
But seriously: it was great. Apparently Sandra Bullock, like Kate Mulgrew, is one of those people who really can act well if someone gives them a good script.

Re: Gravity in IMAX
(Anonymous) 2013-10-30 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)Awful movie, if you consider the way it handled the themes it wanted to convey, very anvil-y, if you know what I mean. Subtle it is not, too in your face for me.
It really saved itself when it comes to special effects and fantastic visuals, one of the best things I have ever seen tbh. I forgot how much I didn't like for a whole hour after the movie, then I realized that I had been hypnotized by the effects.
Also, Clooney is a nicely developed character all around, very in character. I can't stand Bullock, but she was a bit better on this one, apart from 2 or 3 scenes I just want to obliterate from my brain.
Advice: go see it on the big screen, DO NOT watch it at home. You need the 3D for this one.
