It's a combination of expense, availability, and convenience, like the other anon said. I use whatever gives me easy access to entertainment, whether it's paying or not. I use Youtube, Netflix, Hulu, and Steam for most of my media needs because they're easier than taking a chance with torrents; when torrents are the easiest option, I do that instead. So I don't object to buying things, I object to difficulty.
