So in my second year of teaching afterschool English, I started the first class by asking the 5th grade class what THEY thought the class rules should be--the idea being, if they agree on a rule, it's easier to get them to abide by it later. Well, the kids gave some standard things, "No hitting," "Speak English"--and some troll things, "Always eat candy," etc--before my favourite smart-ass spoke up.

"All right, what do you think one of the rules should be?"

"Teacher is Queen," he said, completely seriously.

GOD BLESS YOU YOU ADORABLE BRAT. And, honestly, whatever the official rules are that's the only one that really ends up being in effect.
