Well, googling pics of Denmark + Mountains seems to bring up pictures of white, snow covered mountain ranges in Denmark...so what exactly doesn't look like Denmark?

[personal profile] astridv 2013-10-30 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I doubt thouse mountains are actually in denmark.

Huh. So Denmark is like the midwest? Flat and full of cows. :(

[personal profile] tamabonotchi 2013-10-30 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah it's really flat compared to the mountains Norway and Sweden have

More sand than cow

[personal profile] astridv 2013-10-30 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Flat, definitely. (I just googled and learned the highest hill is, what, 173 meters? Huh.) I don't know about the cows but I'm guessing yes. ;)

The second highest is 147m and called The Sky/Heaven Mountain.

(My mother's side of the family is from Denmark.)

Møllehøj is the highest natural point in Denmark at 170.86 m (561 ft).

(Maybe those mountains are in Greenland? I dunno.)

(Anonymous) 2013-10-31 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
My though too. Must be the Greenland part of Denmark.

Denmark is flat, has no mountains and barely any snow... It is basically filled with fields, windmills and brick houses.

Norway. Sweden or Finland in particular looks a bit like how the picture in the secret looks...

If you are interested I can see if I find a picture from my window last winter to illustrate my point?

Nah, I believe you. :P

Damn, I wanted to show my awesome view... *pout*

I will just have to find an excuse next time it snows to show you guys my view, I like my view... I might or might not live in the middle of nowhere...

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2013-10-31 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Show me your awesome view! There better be unicorns. -__-

[personal profile] making_excuses 2013-10-31 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
But, but unicorns don't show up on photos....

That is from last winter, it is pretty neat during the summer too...

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2013-10-31 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
So pretty! How far is is it to town?
making_excuses: (Default)

[personal profile] making_excuses 2013-10-31 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
It is about 6km (about 5 minutes drive, or 15min on the bus) into town and 2km to my University College. I live on top of an hill* so my view is slightly better than those living further down, not that there is a lot of people not living on hills...

*How surprising as I live in the land of fucking mountains, and no I do not hate at all that I have to climb that hill every damn day.

That is so pretty!

[personal profile] khronos_keeper 2013-10-31 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Hooooly shit this is gorgeous. And it makes me homesick. (My hometown is a small, tree-covered place near a lake that gets ridiculous amounts of snow.)

Wow, what a cool view! Loads more exciting than mine, I guarantee you that! I'd love to see what it looks like in the summer too. Is it super green?

(Anonymous) 2013-10-31 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Jealous! That looks like the most heavenly place.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-31 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, Finland has exactly zero mountains as well. Even Sweden's mountains are all at the Norwegian border.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-31 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yup. *hogging all the mountains*
making_excuses: (Default)

[personal profile] making_excuses 2013-10-31 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, how on earth did I fail at local geography? Keep forgetting the Finns may look scandinavians, but they are the land of thousand fjords.

Quick trip to google later, Finland do have at least 10 mountains that are taller than 1000m and Sweden have at least 10 mountains that are taller than 2000m, so it could still be set in either of those countries, but Norway is probably more likely as we are surrounded by mountains everywhere, seriously I don't think I have been to a place where I have not seen a mountain or been on top of one ever (in Norway)...

But you are right Anon!

shows that even the resident Scandinavian can fail at geography, especially when she tries to not only talk about Norway for once.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-31 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
"the land of thousand fjords." Ah, no. That'd be "lakes".

I give the fuck up, seriously... I choose to blame it on a translation error!

For the record I actually said "fuck" out loud when I got the email notification, because I should have noticed the mistake when I wrote it...
