Well, they started out as male presenting, playing the role of a male-appearing automaton - and the role, as far as I know hasn't changed even though the person's gender identity is different now?

But they said somewhere that they basically don't care what people call them so I don't even know anymore. I don't pay a lot of attention to artists' personal lives.

That's not true anymore. The character is going to be becoming female too despite robots having genders being stupid.

I agree on the makeup. The last few have been bad.

Ah, alright. I was mostly commenting on the "looks like a guy" part and I was assuming the make-up was still from the time when the character was "male", but still, it's good to know. I'm not really up-to-date. But in general: Yes, Robots with genders is kind of stupid.

Might be best to choose a completely different costume+make-up in the end, though, but whatever.

I don't care about the makeup (or Bunny's decision to make Rabbit female) but I am concerned about the sound of the band changing since Bunny's decision.

Me too a little, mostly because my favorite parts of the harmonies are quite often when Rabbit takes the low end like in Rex Marksley and I'm not sure it will continue to happen. Also, I hated Upgrade.

I think it's something that could work if handled really really well but I'm not sure I trust Bunny to handle it because of the hugbox of Tumblr. My husband keeps saying that David won't let her destroy the band over it but I'm not sure, especially with how much volume people agree with her on anything and crush any dissenters. I'm trying to remain hopeful but the half-assed looking make-ups aren't helping.

As someone who's done the really fancy makeup, it's really hard, and it can be really stressful/time consuming, so I can see where Bunny see where Bunny is coming from wrt trying out new things, to see what looks best.

As for the vocal part, once someone is past puberty (and thus past the chance to do puberty blockers), changing the voice (permanently) with hormones is impossible; and while there is a surgery that can be done to make a trans woman's vocal range higher, Bunny has said that she's terrified of surgery, so on that end, it should be fine?

Oh, I know the voice won't change. My concern is that Bunny will be doing Rabbit's parts out of her best range and even if it sounds horrible everyone will tell her it's amazing, just like every time she does something that's not good.

Like the skits, and sketches and stuff? Because I doubt the singing voice is going to change, especially if tracks from the new album are anything to go by (things like Ghost Grinder on youtube and Rust With Me (?) on the engineerateer website).

It really depends on whether she will try to change her way of speaking/style of singing to appear more feminine in voice. But the voice itself won't change too much, not like with FtM trans people on hormones.

I remember Heather Alexander. I loved their music, but after transitioning, I couldn't really listen to the new stuff anymore because it was so strange hearing the exact same inflection and style of singing, only with a voice that didn't really sound like the old voice had. It was basically uncanny valley - voice edition.
