Completely agree. Are there artists there with good anatomy skills?

Yes there are, but they're always accused of drawing "fat" women when they draw women with a waist that can accommodate a complete set of internal organs.

By who, neckbeards?

I mean seriously, who else would say something like that? :/

Pretty much. Last I heard someone pitch a fit about how women were drawn was during Renato Guedes' run on Supergirl. He has a realistic style that portrayed her looking like a typical teenage girl, and a lot of comments in different forums were saying she was fat and ugly (she was neither of those, btw) and complaining about her costume because she wore spandex shorts under her skirt.

Here's what they were losing their shit about http://eschergirls.tumblr.com/post/42535716217/and-this-is-my-favourite-artist-on-supergirl

speaking of costumes, don't get me started on what people say about superheroine costume redesigns

Wow. Some dudes' perceptions of female beauty is so damn warped...that kind of explains a lot... *weeps quietly*

That art is awesome!

The saddest part of this is, she does look quite thickset to me because I'm so used to seeing hyper-stylized proportions on most female comics characters (not that I'd have a problem if she was intended to be particularly sturdy, but she's clearly got an average physique). But then I recognize that the problem is with the majority standard, not this exception to the rule.

And I really wish I could nuke every single who insists she keep wearing that horrible damn flyaway skirt.

Agreed. I actually had to take a moment to mentally slap myself out of that particular mentality.

The art looks great and I can actually tell what she's supposed to be feeling (via expression and body language...which is something of a rarity because in the - admittedly few - comics I've read, faces either express joy, sadness, anger or 'default expression')

*sigh*

I'm looking at you Rob Liefeld. Whoever let you publish anything should be arrested.

It's not just comic books, either. I remember the fits those neckbeard were having about Lara Croft not having big tits anymore in the reboot. Fuck, guys, if we ever needed proof that you apparently have little to no contact to actual living, breathing women in your lives, this was it. Her tits are still plenty big.

Not just by neckbeards. By the industry themselves, in order to attract neckbeards.

If you draw for one of the major companies you will be encouraged to draw big tits, impossibly long legs and slim waists.
