I hear you, anon. One of my fandoms is so fucking obsessed with one of the character's (alleged) queerness that they tend to completely forget that his sexuality is so far from being the main point of the character that it might as well be on the other side of the globe.

But then, who cares about the complexities of a character if you can ship them? Which is really all fandom cares about, no matter how much lip service they pay to the other, far more relevant issues the source material is about.

As a queer person, I wish that kind of thing would just stop. I get that fandom is mostly about shipping, but I am not my sexuality. In fact, my sexuality is a minor point to who I am. And I'd love to see more characters who are first and foremost about, for example, how well they're keeping it together during the zombie apocalypse or being a kickass scientist, and somewhere along the line, oh btw they're also bi (yeah, I would also like more bi representation).
