I haven't read the canon material, but I would read the hell out of that fic.

Moran was pretty cool in the second movie. Kinda hot as well...

He's an officer in the British military who served in war (check) who's a crack shot (check) who takes pride in the skills he's acquired from his profession (check, although Moran's a hunter, kinda the exact opposite of a doctor) and a well-known writer about his personal experiences (check) who was booted out of Asia (check) and found himself disgruntled, unemployed and adrift in London (check), and took up with a crazy cool genius (check) and began to help him in his work (check) and then became his best friend and right-hand-man (check) and tried to carry on some of his friend's work and legacy while grieving over his death (check).

He also has a mustache. And gambles. He's about 12-13 years older than Watson in canon, but on the other hand, he's around the same age as Moriarty.

Have I missed anything, other guys?
