Really? Cos I've spent quite a bit of time in progressive circles and no one I've come across talks about "communism". Socialism, yes, but no one thinks Russia is at all what their idea of socialism is. Please to be making a distinction there, thanks. And not everyone who has some good things to say about socialism (you know, welfare, unions, parental payments, universal healthcare, etc.) are "S"ocialists, or think Marx's vision should be followed exactly. Or that any government who did follow it followed it exactly either.

My father and his student generation in the 60s in the West thought communism was fucking great, until they learnt better. I think you're a bit out of date there.
