Re: Feeling good!

Yesterday my writerbrain had a sudden burst of "Holy crap, I'd be starting late and unprepared (and would extend the deadline to compensate), but NaNo could be the perfect excuse to write that fanfic idea that I've had floating vaguely in my head for almost a year!" The rest of me promptly went "Sit down, Badger; that is a terrible idea. NaNo is not compatible with how your brain works or your current schedule and you don't actually have a plot yet." To which the writerbrain sulked that she totally could have a plot and anyway it's a really good idea and I should be more excited about the prospect of doing something longer than my usual vignettes. Which is true. So I'm compromising with myself: I have a week to come up with a comprehensive outline of the rules of this story, all the necessary plot points, and how they fit together. If I can do that, I will start taking a serious look at deadlines and maybe actually making this happen.

Today I managed almost a thousand words of color-coded bullet points detailing the rules of my plot-driving supernatural event and what roles (almost) all the major characters will have in responding to it. I think I can work out the rest by Sunday.
