supernatural confessions

(Anonymous) 2013-11-06 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
How many people here ever went ghost hunting or tried to summon something (like using a Ouija board)?

What happened? Do you know anyone who has done this? What happened to them?

Oh my whole childhood was like this. Rebellion from a super religious school for one thing. And that shit sticks. I mean, even recently I started thinking about learning how to read Tarot cards and got this vague feeling of "this is a dark evil sin and you are going to hell for it".

So yeah, there was a lot of summonings and trying to make spells. Nothing worked though. I guess my heart wasn't fully in it. It was fun though.

I grew up with an old graveyard on my property. Five or six graves were marked only on the deed, but one grave had a concrete slab poured over it and someone had written the woman's name in it with a stick; she died at nineteen in childbirth and her baby is buried next to her. As a kindergartener, my next door neighbor friend convinced me we should dig up the grave for treasure. We didn't get far, fortunately. As a teen, we played Ouija on the grave multiple times. What happened? Nada. :)

It was neat; I spent a lot of time making up stories about who the dead girl was and what her life was like. I think it's also weird that even though I am a total scaredy cat (even now, I get scared of scary movies and books and sleep with the covers wrapped around my neck so vampires don't bite it IDK it's stupid LOL), but I was never ever scared of the graves.

There was this one time when I was over at a friend's house, just me (a Christian), my friend whose house it was (an agnostic at that point), and another friend (a wiccan), and all of us got this weird, eerie feeling when we went to the attic where the bedrooms were. Me and the wiccan friend were both like "Yeah, something just doesn't feel right here..." and wiccan friend went out into the other room that belonged to our friend's brother, and felt it even stronger, and pointed me to this one place... and we both agreed, it felt colder there, right in this one spot over a round carpet, and it made our skin crawl. And we were all adults at this point, in our late teens/early 20s, so this wasn't just some kids getting each other psyched out.

Both of us were highly creeped out at that point so went back to our friend's room, and she lit a white candle and I said some prayers - and we started hearing noises from the creepy area. We stayed right there in our friend's room, both of us basically using our own methods of warding, until his brother got home, and wiccan friend basically interrogated him.

Turned out our friend's brother had casually decided he wanted to try to summon something. I don't know all the details, because I got out of there as soon as I could because it was creeping me out being anywhere near there even before we got any sort of an explanation. But he'd tried some kind of spell just for laughs, and ... allegedly something happened, more than he was expecting?

But at any rate, before he got home, we sat there in the one friend's room for quite some time practicing our respective religions and discussing the differences and similarities, and in that respect, it was a great experience. No hate between any of us, just different beliefs working together with the same goal in mind, and no one was struck by lightning or cursed or whatever.

But I was really glad when our friend's family moved out of that house not much later. I was honestly worried about him.

Mysteriously snuffed out candles, weird sensations and shivers down the spine may not be due to the presence of ghosts in haunted houses but to very low frequency sound that is inaudible to humans. British scientists have shown in a controlled experiment that the extreme bass sound known as infrasound produces a range of bizarre effects in people including anxiety, extreme sorrow and chills — supporting popular suggestions of a link between infrasound and strange sensations.

So I have heard! When I had cable, I was a big fan of Mythbusters, and they did an episode about this. =)

My family used to live across the street from a hospital. One summer, they were constructing a new wing at the back, replacing an old parking garage and a cafe they'd bought out the previous year. My sister, brother, and I were all really curious, so one night we snuck out of the house and tried to get into the open construction area, which of course didn't have much security because who the hell would do that. We didn't think to bring a flashlight, and we all had different opinions about how to get in. My brother wanted to cut through the existing hospital, which would have been easy enough but I thought it was too obvious. I wanted to go through the secondary parking garage, because they connected on the other side. My sister wanted to go through this dark window that was low to the ground. She insisted on it, in fact, even though we couldn't really see through it, and it was pitch black inside.

She insisted a lot.

Since this didn't make sense to either of us, we asked her why. My sister said she couldn't leave "her" behind--we assumed she'd dropped her doll or something, and so we dragged her away to look for it before we continued on with our dastardly teenage scheme. She screamed bloody murder, pointed at the window, and we turned around and saw...a face. Or what looked like something close enough to a face. Needless to say, we booked our asses out of there. The next day, my sister didn't remember any of it, but she had her doll, so we figured maybe we imagined it or something. And then we took my grandmother to the hospital about a week later, in broad daylight, and we went to go look at the construction zone again.

The window my sister really wanted to go through? Was a straight drop onto concrete, and it must have been fifty feet high.

I lived in a house that was haunted by at least seven ghosts we counted up, and, because of the lei lines around/through my property, I often had 'visitors'.

I've lived in eight houses since I was born, and Things Happened in five of them.

I see ghost animals semi-regularly; I was once at work and saw a Jack Russell Terrier running around the wheels of a truck outside that disappeared as it ran under the truck. I saw a Great Dane walking down the street next to a man while I was at a light, and the dog vanished. My own dogs reappear, particularly two dogs who never lived together.

On ghost hunts, planned or unplanned, things usually show up for me. I usually am on them with my two best friends, one of whom is an exorcist, which is fortunate, because we've run into some creepy things. (She offered to get rid of the seven in my house, but they were relatively friendly. That being said, they could be pretty obnoxious when they wanted to be.)

ive never done anything of the sort but my mom said she went to some kind of psychic person, idk if he called himself a psychic but he claimed to have some sort of gift. my mom was trying to contact her brother or something. i'm not sure i believe contacting spirits or dead people is possible but i do know that the psychic dude somehow knew exactly how my uncle died, and he died in a very very specific way that we don't tell people. i'm fairly skeptical (which isn't how i want to be) but whenever i have serious doubts, i just remember that dude. he had some shit going on with him. not sure i think he was in touch with my uncle, but he obviously could read people, and not in a typical way.

I was the person who secretly moved the Oujia board thing, and pretended like cold shivers passed through me and "sensed ghosts". My friends believed in all that supernatural shit. Hey, I could've been a dick about it, at least I humored them!

I messed with a Ouija board with friends once. It started swearing at me. :p Also participated in a few protective types of rituals with people from the same crowd, but never actually tried summoning anything (unless you count the Watchtowers.) None of it had any particularly bad outcomes that I'm aware of.

I never have, but for very good reason. I grew up in a very old house which had... things in it.

Easily the most disturbing thing that happened was one night when I was in the upstairs room where my greatgrandmother died. There were two cats up there with me, which is relevant because I always used them as a sort of canary as to when I should gtfo.

I started getting a really weird feeling. Like I was being watched, and it felt very hostile. My heart rate shot up, and no matter how much I tried to tell myself I was just freaking myself out, I couldn't get rid of the feeling.

So finally I broke, and went downstairs as fast as I could. As soon as I hit the landing, a really loud, angry screech that sounded somewhere between a pissed off animal and a pissed off woman. It was so loud and it scared me so much that I froze.

The two cats that had been upstairs tore downstairs at top speed with their ears flattened to their heads.

That was the most disturbing, but not the only thing, that happened to me up there.

I wanted to but I realized I was somewhat sensitive to other worldly stuff. (Also, our family has a history of being able to see and sense stuff)

Well, I don't go looking for supernatural stuff but have occasionally things that have that are creepy. I'm very much sure we have a friendly and slightly mischievous spirit who is protective.

This happened a few years ago during the winter. I was 23 I think. Anyways, I was alone and suddenly got hungry. I left my phone is my room. Now, my family would be home til around 8 and they have the keys. So, I was in the kitchen enjoying a sandwich when I hear someone trying to force open the front door. I could hear who ever it was struggling to get it open. I sitting terrified. I couldn't move because I kept thinking they might enter and spot me.

I sat there frozen. I could here them close to opening the doors when the noises started. I heard the furnace turn one but it didn't sound like normal. Then, I heard the barking and growling of large loud dogs. (We have no dogs and the neighbors bring in their dogs at night) Then the sound of someone upstairs walking around heavily and the sounds of angry people talking. (No one lives upstairs FYI) Whoever it was trying to force the front door open stops.

The sounds continue for a good 8-10 minutes before absolute silence. I pretty much double bolted the front door just in case and the second door. I rant to my room and stayed there. Afterwards, the house stayed pretty much silent. I called my mom after 10 minutes to ask when she'd get home. I never told her what happened.'

Also, whatever friendly thing the lives in my homes doesn't like me reading creepy pastas. He makes the porch door thing creek. (I think they do it b/c they know I get nightmares from watching creepy pastas.

Also, fun fact. My mom as a child onc etold me that she met gnomes, but they are not nice creatures. They are in fact very terrifying. Supposedly, the "king" wanted to make my mom his bride whether she wanted to or not. She managed to stop his interest by stop cleaning and bathing for a short time. Which stopped their visits and then my grandmother made the whole family move somewhere else. Also fun fact, they apparently walk oddly.

I don't know if this counts but once when I dreamt that I met the devil. He offered my anything my heart desired. He gave me time to think of his offer and gave me a specific date and time. Needless to say I didn't sleep for the next few days and wore a rosary out of fear.

This...this is not a thread to read at midnight while home alone. At least I have the cat. He's not the bravest thing, but he's definitely a snuggle bunny.
