I don't understand why people are talking about this. It's pretty fucking bland.

It's more that it actually exists than any quality involved.

It's a lot like that one anime based on the console wars.

Because Microsoft made an OFFICIAL INTERNET EXPLORER MAGICAL GIRL!

WITH A WEBSITE: www.internetexplorertan.com

FEATURING THIS TEXT:
"Hey everyone! My name is Inori and you can think of me as a personification of Internet Explorer.

When I was younger, I used to be a clumsy, slow and awkward girl.

However, just like the story of ugly duckling, people told me that I have really matured and changed over the years. I feel confident in my abilities now, and I'm eager to show you what I can do.

Why don't you get to know me a little better?"

I am still laughing at a link to this on one of the chzburger sites that said, "I'm really disappointed that no one there decided to go with Inora the Explorer."

Bland and unoriginal, since browser/OS/site-tans have been a thing for years now. It's a cute video but I'm baffled to see people who're generally pretty heavily steeped in online culture treating it like it's some amazing new innovation.

The fact that IE-tan is a magical girl that protects people from the dangerous parts of the internet makes me cock a brow just a bit.

Shhh, she isn't very good at her job.

No kidding...the shield she uses just after she transforms - that's the icon Windows Security Center flashes if part of your security is OFF.

Well, that was... pointless and dull.

ok that is actually really adorable

:D

ETA: apparently I have bad taste, but in my defense, I haven't watched a lot of anime compared to most people here who like anime (and have watched almost nothing that would qualify as "magical girl" anime)

lol I thought it was cute. (even though I still don't like IE.)

It's okay, I thought it looked really good too. It's reasonably standard magical girl fare, with a technological twist, but the animation is smooth and it looks good. Music's nice too.

Like others have said, there's a -tan for nearly everything now, but that she's official is pretty neat.
