White people in this country are seriously tone deaf when it comes to their understanding of the depth of the depravity of what really happened to black people under slavery in the United States. The only reason she's known now is because she got caught and discovered.

The fact black people in America are still suffering under the after-effects of slavery and more recently, Jim Crow, and a TV show can be written about a historic and real person who actually killed real people can be depicted in any way as any kind of sympathetic figure is kind of really sickening.

The only hope I have for this season is that in the end, she is not "redeemed" in some way and actually gets what she really deserves, which is eternal hell. otherwise, vomit.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-08 01:38 am (UTC)(link)

get fucked with a chainsaw, sweetheart.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-08 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
lol a hundred years from now they'll still be blaming slavery for their problems

(Anonymous) 2013-11-08 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Because institutional racism totally doesn't exist and that whole Civil Rights thing totally solved everything.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-08 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah and we didn't just elect the first black president of the united states, right?

(Anonymous) 2013-11-08 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
That doesn't mean there aren't still problems. It doesn't mean racism or the problems facing blaack people are suddenly over.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-08 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
A lot of their problems are of their own actions.

It's amazing to me how some whites really believe that electing Obama all of a sudden cured this country of its deeply entrenched racism.

If anything, I think his being elected unmasked certain segment of this country's true colors.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-08 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
No one said racism was cured, but it's pretty obvious that slavery didn't prevent Obama from getting ahead in the world because he took responsibility for his actions as opposed to blaming whitey whenever something went wrong.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-08 02:48 am (UTC)(link)

Obama is one man. He does not encompass all of the struggles most black people still have to deal with in their every day lives.

Beside ...

The choice was McCain/Palin - which in affect was another 4 years of Bush or a democrat. The fact that Obama was energizing helped, but pretty much any democrat would have won because most of the country was just tired of Bush.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-08 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
you're right, just like Joan of Arc leading an army means sexism didn't prevent her from getting ahead wow smart what are bitches complaining about nowadays then

You're right his election proves that bigotry and racism no longer exist.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-09 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
you're an idiot

(Anonymous) 2013-11-08 02:23 am (UTC)(link)

No, they'll be *rightly* blaming the institutionalized, systematic racism that still continues now and has never been addressed or fixed, and white racist like you will be proud in their blissful ignorance of knowing nothing about history and how it effects things in the present and smugly proclaim how "they" will complain about slavery while ignoring the blatant racism going on in the present... will smug racist, you ...

(Anonymous) 2013-11-08 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
lol please like the rest of us aren't bending over backwards to cater to you and looking for excuses to absolve you of responsibility when you commit half of the crime in the country

(Anonymous) 2013-11-08 02:41 am (UTC)(link)

"I see your true color shinning through ..."

lol. People like you need to go to secede already ... isolate yourself in a neo-nazi utopia somewhere and don't come back. Bye. nobody's going to miss you.

It's "shining", not "shinning". It's okay, I know spelling isn't your strong suit.

White people in this country are seriously tone deaf when it comes to their understanding of the depth of the depravity of what really happened to black people under slavery in the United States.

is this something surprising or new?

(Anonymous) 2013-11-08 01:45 am (UTC)(link)

So true ...

(Anonymous) 2013-11-08 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately, she's probably going to be redeemed.
