I shall allow Professor Snape to illustrate:

Harry recoils from Snape's touch. "You make me nauseous," he shrieks.

"Well," Snape purrs, "you've made me want to throw up for years, Potter. It only makes sense you'd begin disgusting yourself before long."

LOL

And I know that every time we have one of these threads we have to do the whole descriptive vs prescriptive language battl, and I get it. I get that language changes. We don't say thee or thou or forsooth anymore in common parlance. The meanings of words change over time or fall out of favor, and I'm totally cool with that. But at the same time, I can't just say, "Bee boop ba bee bop," and expect y'all to understand that I mean, "Dinner is served." I do believe that most of language has to retain meaning, and for whatever reason, nauseous is one of the words I've glommed on to. If you are nauseous, you make other people throw up. If you are nauseated, you feel like throwing up yourself.
