Head hopping back and forth over the course of a couple paragraphs. Like:

Alice blushed as she caught Bob looking at her over the rims of his glasses. What could he be thinking? Surely he could never fall for an awkward, nondescript girl like herself. She ran out of the room before he could see the tears spring to her eyes.

Bob watched as she made her escape. Was it something he had done? He was never quite sure of himself around the mysterious, passionate, and feisty girl. His heart burned for her, etc, etc.

WORST FIC TURN OFF EVER.

Also really stilted, badly-written, simplistic dialogue. I can totally deal with the background details being crap, or grammar mistakes being tossed about here or there, but if the dialogue's off then you've lost me.

Every time I've seen that head-hopping thing, it's turned out that the fic is a person who RPs Alice reformatting one of their RPs with a person who plays Bob and then uploading it as a story. It makes me so angry because it is possible to turn an RP with a decent plot into a compelling story, but just sticking it all together in one document is not the way to go about that.

I wish that it all was reformatting from RPs because then at least it'd be understandable, but I've seen so much head hopping fic and in variable lengths that I'm pretty sure a lot of it is just damn bad writing.
