For the record, New York City is racist as fuck. They just like to pretend they aren't--see the Stop and Frisk fiasco and arresting that one black actor at Barney's. A lot of people there only like people of color when they're affluent or somehow trendy. When I mentioned New York I meant upstate.

I guess what I'm trying to argue is that when I was overseas (explicitly not Canada, though I've only been to Montreal and Toronto) I saw some equally creepy shit. We have more creepy shit because we have more people of color to be creepy toward.

Well post a thread about overseas then. I'll gladly add my 2 cents about the shitty things I've seen in the other continents/countries I've been to. Where I currently live? Also racist as fuck, but in a different way. And oh that Asian-on-Asian racism that manages to be the most subtle but the most virulent of all o_O
