Harriet Jones shooting down the Sycorax is a pretty blatant allegory for Margaret Thatcher sinking the General Belgrano.

So to defend Harriet Jones is to defend Margaret Thatcher. Discuss.

Actually it is worse. Thatcher's sinking of the Belgrano was defensible in that it was known it was only leaving the engagement zone to commit to a flanking attack and the action carried out by a known asset in the area (the submarine Conquerer). The Sycorax, who were pretty stunned themselves by their own leader's show of bad faith, were by all accounts genuinely withdrawing from the engagement only to be shot in the back as they did so. Compounding the error, Harriet had to use a previously unknown asset (one of those unknown unknowns) to do it.

You can't defend Jones by defending Thatcher. What you have to do is defend Thatcher by making Jones look even worse as a dirty fighter and an incompetent one by revealing a previously unknown weapon for no military gain.
