Everyone is either assuming that you do have permission to use their computer, or don't.

My very first reaction was to want to clarify that, and it makes an enormous difference in my opinion of this.

Clarification, OP? Are you sneaking onto their computer, or are they letting you use it? Because if it's the former, way to disrespect peoples' property and be an enormous douche, and it has NOTHING to do with what you were reading or what you/they believe.
