This insane drive to make it canon, to harass writers, actors, producers, directors, and even the PCAs is just so disgusting to me. Like five year olds taking tantrums because they want some candy.

I'm not even in the fandom and I agree with you.

I just feel so much second-hand embarrassment from watching the fans harass the actors.

Insane is the right word. If any of the creators make the mistake of saying that they've never intended to go that way, the blowout is astronomical: "YOU TAKE THAT BACK RIGHT NOW! WE KNOW BETTER THAN YOU, YOU QUEERBAITER!"
