Re: Self-censoring swearing?
Even saying something like "fricking" in front of your grandparents is seen as a no-no.
Basically the substitutes make it okay to say in polite company without being judged as hard as full out swearing. Saying, "I was waiting in that line for 10 fricking minutes" is more okay than saying, "I was waiting in that line for 10 fucking minutes."
It goes back to the earlier settlers. idk, but it feels pretty bad to have a whole room of people go :O at you for having said "fuck".
