Tolkien himself said that if an elf got raped, their soul flees their body and goes to Mandos - i.e. They die.


That's... one of the most bizarre bits of world building I've ever seen. Is it expanded upon? I can see how it would be irritating if people ignored it, I mean, you have a great opportunity to explore a culture with a much different concept of rape, and then you just... do what every other canon does...

The nearest Tolkien ever came to anything near rape was Eöl's marriage to Aredhel Ar-Feiniel, which comes off as being very stalkerish and probably a huge case of Stockholm Syndrome going on.

I don't know where that little fact came up, probably somewhere in the letters or other extra materials I've not read (considering that even with the books of HoME I do have, I haven't read any of them right through).

I honestly don't expect prompters to stop writing rape prompts, and one spot that often gets it at the moment is Mirkwood, so the Elf-rape prompts keep happening.
