So... doing this is THE "way to write a good female character" or an unusual, canon-specific one of many many many many many?

*headdesk*

Didn't you know? Women are somehow magically hard to write and bare no similarity to men. You have to take ~special writing courses~ because it is so hard to make a damn female character. ESPECIALLY if it's an alien that regularily changes body and didn't grow up with human cultural pressure. Then it will be ESPECIALLY hard to write a "good female character"

sorry, but genderswapping is lazy-ass writing and offensive, yes. there is literally no good reason or way to genderswap a character that isn't tokenism, a "look, see, we made them into a girl for you, so you should shut up and be happy with it!" and frankly? i do find that offensive.

i don't want to be catered to, i want female characters who are a part of the story from the very beginning and not shoehorned in to fill a quota.

DA

Is this copypasta? I remember seeing a reply similiar to this on a thread here about how genderswapping is considered offensive by some SJWs on tumblr. Or are you that same anon that posted a reply similiar to this on that thread

it's neither, this is the first time i've ever replied to something like this.

i don't want a female character that was originally written to be a male character and then changed to be a girl to fulfill the "token female character" role. that's lazy as hell on the part of the writers and reads as an afterthought, like they didn't realize until they were almost done that they should probably put a female character or two into the story. if they want to have a female character in the show, why can't they just include that female character in the story from the start? i'd rather have no female characters at all than one who was obviously just shoved in for representation.
