Re: Facebook and Google
(Anonymous) 2013-11-10 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)I'm really baffled.
Re: Facebook and Google
(Anonymous) 2013-11-10 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)IDK why, presumably because it's superficially more professional looking but also doubles as someone's personal "professional" email, people use their full names and it's the best you can get if not currently employed/using a work email/own domain.
I've seen people use outlook as well
Re: Facebook and Google
(Anonymous) 2013-11-10 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)A lot of people here have several e-mail accounts, i.e. one with the full name for the more "professional e-mails" (for official occasions) and other ones with "fantasy names" for friends, family etc.
Re: Facebook and Google
I guess the other option is emails affiliated with a university or company, but I don't have one...
Re: Facebook and Google
(Anonymous) 2013-11-10 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)Probably because google is considered more negative here.
It certainly doesn't make you look more professional for an future employer if you use gmail. (As long as you send your CV, documents, etc. from a "normal" e-mail account, like "givenname.surename@xxx" and not from something like "fantasylover123@xxx" everything is fine)
And now I really hope this will stay this way here for us, I don't want gmail. :(
