On the last thread some people wrote stories and mentioned that there was more to those stories or that worse stuff had happened to them. I'd love to hear those others, for what it's worth

My mother is very into the paranormal. I am... not. Out of sheer preservation as a child I've actually become fascinated with the human aspect of paranormal reports. Some really fascinating stuff there.

But when I was thirteen my family went to California over winter break. On the return trip home (to Texas) she wanted to see the Marfa lights but because it was a tight schedule to be back before school she had to drive through the night and stop off around 2 am.

Sometime around one in the morning we stopped at a gas station and I bought a gallon jug of water. In the car after filling my and my mother's cups I accidentally lost the lid and couldn't find it so after I put my glasses in the glove compartment I just kept the jug in the nest of my crossed legs and drifted off to sleep.

I have no idea how long I slept but I was awoken by my mother flailing and smacking her arm into me, the combination of her gestures and my violent startling knocked over the jug of water. She started shout-whispering to me to look out the window. I mostly ignored her trying to clean up the water but she was frantic telling me that a light had been following us, keeping perfect pace with the car's driver side window no matter how many times she slowed or sped up for the past fifteen miles or so.

I fumbled for my glasses and peered through her window and saw... the moon reflecting off of a set of railroad tracks.

I scheduled her an appointment with an optometrist the day after we got home.

I have several fond childhood memories of my mother taking us on weekend roadtrips to see some haunted house or ghostly lights or the other. Mostly at my mother's expense. :)

no, not personally. One of my friends once said she thought there was a ghost in my dining room. Maybe there was, but even if so it's never done anything to me, so *shrug*

Ah, you probably have a modern ghost, not interested in running water or electricity, who has already guessed your wifi password then.

lol!

They wouldn't want to use the wifi, at least not when my siblings are home, especially in the summer. Between my brother, my sister, and I, there's often someone downloading something on Steam.

I'm going anon for this, because the only time I can manage to talk about this stuff is if I'm completely anonymous or if I have known someone for a very long time and can trust that they won't go blabbing about it. But here it goes.

I was an agnostic until I was around sixteen, to which I then became a Buddhist. And even then I didn't really care to delve into reading about the occult. It just wasn't really my thing when I was younger. So that being said, there's a few incidences that have greatly disturbed me as I didn't know where they had come from until I did research years later about it.

The first time I apparently saw a ghost was when still had crib bars around my bed. I couldn't have been older than three. I kept crying for my mother that a man kept coming into my room at night and would run through my walls. The man never harmed me; he just liked to go through my walls I guess. Eventually my mother and I moved out of that apartment and I stopped seeing him. I don't remember telling my mother about this, and it wasn't until I was much older that she mentioned it. This incident wasn't really scary to me, since my best friend's mother had an almost identical experience when she was around that same young age herself.

The next set of incidences occurred in a house I lived in from ages 7 - 14. When I was around eight, I had a dream that didn't feel like a dream. I was in my bedroom, with my nightlight on and everything was exactly like how it was in my room. Nothing was foggy; I could see every detail with crystal clarity. It was then I looked in my doorway that I saw a shadowy figure. It was taller than my door and had wisps of black swish around it. The entire figure was pitch black, but I could tell it had a face and eyes and that it was planning on coming into the room. It reach out a bony hand and that's when I screamed really loudly. All of the sudden I was sitting up in my bed and the thing was gone.

In that same house a few years later, a strange mark appeared on my mother's door. It looked like a squiggly Y from what I remember, and it appeared to be painted on the door by watercolors. It was that transparent looking. Which was absurd, because my mother and I tried everything to scrub that symbol off. It just wouldn't come off. Around that same time, our television started getting fuzzy reception at random times. When we called the cable guy to come over to fix it, he looked freaked out. He told us that as far as he could tell, there was nothing wrong with the television or the cable box.

I eventually moved into a bigger house and didn't experience anything weird until I was around sixteen. It was around then that I had another dream where my bedroom looked exactly like it does in real life. Except this time there was some type of lizard woman on top of me, licking me all over. She had long hair and scales everywhere, and I couldn't really make out her face. I felt extremely nauseated so I started to do a Buddhist chant. Then all of the sudden I was awake, and the woman was gone. She never bothered me again.

The last experience was probably the most frightening, because it felt like I was going to die. Or at least never wake up from my dream. It happened a few months after my encounter with the lizard woman. Again, I was in my bedroom and everything in this dream looked crystal clear. It was around the early morning. And I would have been find with this weird dream if it weren't for this massive creature on top of me. It was about nine or ten feet long, had human like arms with large claws, a dear shaped head with long, bronze horns, a massive human torso, fur covering its lower part, and hooves on its feet. It held me down with its arms and had it's mouth inches away from mine, and it was sucking the air from my lungs. It was very strange, because I could see what I can only describe as my essence being sucked away into its mouth. Like my entire being was made out of something that could just be blown away, as if I wasn't solid or in a normal human body. I was a bit scared, because I felt like if this creature continued what it was doing I would black out and never wake up again. So I just concentrated very hard, still being unable to breathe, and did my Buddhist chants. All of the sudden I was awake and the creature was completely gone.

I never experienced anything after that, and I'm really thankful about that.

That's creepy. I'm more likely to take someone seriously about that kind of thing if they don't really talk about it. Otherwise it sounds like they just want attention and if it really happened, why would they want attention for a horrifying/possibly traumatizing experience? Like they saw a demon so why are they talking about it like they saw a unicorn?

Wow, that's creepy! Those sound a lot like demons.

Anon below has it right, sounds like sleep paralysis. Demons .... aren't like that ....

To reassure you about at least a couple of these experiences: your description of the lizard woman and the deer-human incidents sound like classic sleep paralysis. It's a totally natural, scientifically-recognized sleep phenomenon. I've had it a couple of times myself -- terrifying while it's happening, and hard to shake off the fear once you're fully awake, even if you know what it is.

This sounds like something my bro experiences most nights actually. It's like the dream extending even in the half-awake state. My bro almost regularly dreams of black shadowy human figures standing and looking at him from near the bed. Or he dreams seeing and *feeling* a hand on his feet, dragging him. He then wakes up, usually screaming...

I think it's terrifying tbh. When he told me I had to ask him how is he even able to function, because if I had to dream ringu like settings every night I think I would probably die. :( But yeah, that's because of his sleep patterns, no demons, ghosts or stuff like that.

I had an OOBE once, which was trippy but probably has some sort of scientific explanation somehow. I don't really believe in anything like ghosts and communication with the dead, etc.

I posted this story once beforte but I think it counts. I'm copying and pasting since I each time I type it up. The hairs at the back of my neck stand and there is an odd sense of disapproval/fear in the atmosphere.

(Our family has a history of being able to see and sense stuff)

This happened a few years ago during the winter. I was 23 I think. Anyways, I was alone and suddenly got hungry. I left my phone is my room. Now, my family would be home til around 8 and they have the keys. So, I was in the kitchen enjoying a sandwich when I hear someone trying to force open the front door. I could hear who ever it was struggling to get it open. I sitting terrified. I couldn't move because I kept thinking they might enter and spot me.

I sat there frozen. I could here them close to opening the doors when the noises started. I heard the furnace turn one but it didn't sound like normal. Then, I heard the barking and growling of large loud dogs. (We have no dogs and the neighbors bring in their dogs at night) Then the sound of someone upstairs walking around heavily and the sounds of angry people talking. (No one lives upstairs FYI) Whoever it was trying to force the front door open stops.

The sounds continue for a good 8-10 minutes before absolute silence. I pretty much double bolted the front door just in case and the second door. I rant to my room and stayed there. Afterwards, the house stayed pretty much silent. I called my mom after 10 minutes to ask when she'd get home. I never told her what happened.'

Also, whatever friendly thing the lives in my homes doesn't like me reading creepy pastas. He makes the porch door thing creek. (I think they do it b/c they know I get nightmares from watching creepy pastas.

Also, fun fact. My mom as a child once told me that she met gnomes, but they are not nice creatures. They are in fact very terrifying. Supposedly, the "king" wanted to make my mom his bride whether she wanted to or not. She managed to stop his interest by stop cleaning and bathing for a short time. Which stopped their visits and then my grandmother made the whole family move somewhere else. Also fun fact, they apparently walk oddly.

I don't know if this counts but once when I dreamt that I met the devil. He offered my anything my heart desired. He gave me time to think of his offer and gave me a specific date and time. Needless to say I didn't sleep for the next few days and wore a rosary out of fear.

One night I woke up feeling disorientated. When I sat up, I realized I had flipped to the other end of my bed along with my pillow.

Still not sure how that happened, I don't move that much in my sleep...

Sorry to be a killjoy, but everyone changes position in their sleep. You just don't realize it because, well, you're asleep.

I have had a phone conversation with a relative that took place over an hour after they died.

She called, asked how I was, told me that she felt like she was finally leaving behind a dark part of her life/"moving on to better things" (exact words), told me to give her love to my mom & dad. Then we exchanged I-love-you's and said goodbye, agreeing that we really needed to talk more often. Basically a totally normal family phone call. Then we got the news that her body had been found, about 90 minutes before I got her call.

Freaky shit, and I haven't really talked about it to my family. I have no physical evidence that the event took place, only my own possibly-faulty memory and a distinct feeling of finality that accompanied hanging up the phone.

My grandmother told me more than once that her mother saw the moirae around her oldest brother's crib when he was a baby, arguing over how long his thread would be. My great-uncle was killed in WWII, at the age of 24.

Re: Supernatural Confessions

(Anonymous) 2013-11-12 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
Nothing personally. Well, one time when I was 4 I woke up and saw a shadow of a man in a top hat on the wall next to my bed and became hysterical enough to wake up both my parents. But then I was 4 and sleeping, so it was probably just a nightmare. Felt real at the time though.

My best friend swears up and down that she and her boyfriend saw a ghost floating outside their apartment window one night when they were spending the summer in Singapore. Her account is full of creepy details and for the most part I think it's fibbing, but I'm not 100% certain. This is Asia, stories like those abound and they're all really spooky.

My ex manifested a... spiritual presence whenever she needed time away from people. He was tall and creepy and hovered in the corner, even if she was out of town visiting family. He popped up around for months after she broke up with me, until she finally realized I wasn't going to call her to hang out as buddies. He was basically her depression dial.
