Ao3 just makes it easier to sort by numbers of kudos.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-12 12:56 am (UTC)(link)Eh, I don't think so. AO3 has a bookmark feature, which is much closer to the favorite feature on FF.net. A kudos on AO3 is more equivalent to one of those short "I liked this" comments on FF.net, in which case, AO3 technically gets more fan reaction.

However, to me Kudos and Favs are very similar because both are a "single click" at the bottom of the story, and both result in an email to the author (assuming the author has notifications turned on). ~ As far as I know Ao3 authors are not notified when someone bookmarks their story (especially since bookmarks can be "private."
There's also a "Recs" function on Ao3, I think, separate from Kudos and Bookmarks.

Also, bookmarkers sometimes contain a reader's opinions on your fic, which sometimes make them like comments. (Although, knowing that, you sometimes have to wonder what's written on the hidden bookmarks.)
There's a Recs function and also a Read Later function, which I love.
