For me, the biggest reason I don't cross-post to AO3 and FFN is because I write M+ rated fics. The pre-slash stories I have posted on FFN don't violate their TOS, and AO3 doesn't have that restriction. Explicit (sex, violence, gore) stories are welcome on AO3, but they're not marketing themselves as a site for the under-18 crowd either.

And AO3 has a much friendlier posting interface than FFN.

All of this. AO3 has less clutter and grown readers and writers.

I was writing for my drawer for years before I started posting, so Kudos is a nice bonus.
