Ayup! Most critics are saying Loki is the highlight of the movie. Which does make me feel a bit bad about Hemsworth. I don't know if he could carry a Thor movie on his own at this point.

SPOILERS
Of course, with the ending of Thor 2 it looks like Loki is sticking around.

spoiler for Thor: The Dark World

Honestly, I don't think Loki could carry a movie on his own either. He needs Thor as a foil. There needs to be that dynamic of Loki not being completely evil because Thor gives him a chance to redeem himself. It's interesting that even though Thor seemed to write off Loki in the beginning of the movie, it was Thor who knew that Loki was putting up an illusion to hide his grief over their mother's death. That brotherly dynamic of Thor knowing deep down how Loki would act is more interesting than Loki running around on his own creating chaos or Thor running around saving the day. I really hope the third movie explore that.

Poor Chris though! I think he's come on a lot since the first Thor and made the character his own almost as much as Tom did for Loki. I just can't imagine any other actors in either of those roles and the fact that they seem like such good friends in real life only adds to it.

I will admit I am more of a Loki fan than a Thor fan in the MCU but tbh Loki doesn't really have anything to do without his relationship with Thor so yeah, Chris needs more love! Especially after he handled questions about Loki's popularity compared to Thor's with such grace!

I expect a third Thor film will address issues at the end of the second. I just hope people don't get sick of...certain things before then.

I just hope they won't change the casting for future MCU films - that's always a danger (yet would be very stupid on their part).

What I love so much about Hemsworth's Thor is that he manages exactly the right amount of "warrior bravado" without drifting into the idiot jock trope territory. Which is a thing I passionately hate about most fic - damn it, Thor isn't stupid.

I think Hemsworth could totally carry a film by himself but the problem is the powers that be would make the film about Thor and Jane (which is literally the weakest part of the thor series) instead of focusing on Thor, his issues with odin and his badass friends.

I think Thor could carry a movie on his own (as long as he has a great supporting cast, and he already DOES, they just need to use them more), I think the problem is Marvel doesn't seem to know how to write decent villains for the MCU that aren't Loki. Don't get me wrong, Tom is perfect as Loki and he's an intriguing antagonist; his relationship with Thor is fascinating. Still, I could see people getting tired of Loki's shtick. Not his massive fanbase (of course), but 'regular' movie-goers.

This is me. By the end of The Avengers I was so damn sick of smarmy "thinks he's so smart" Loki that I was ready to stand up and scream "FUCK YES!!" when Hulk slammed him around like a rag doll. Hearing that he would be back in Thor 2 convinced me not to bother seeing it.
