The integration of two strategies from a book called "Questioning the Music Education Paradigm" into the classroom.

All of the articles in that book are so stupid I'm trying to read as little of them as possible because I think they're actually making me dumber.

I'm sorry, for what it's worth. Hopefully it's over with quickly, if not painlessly. :)

Reading your post suddenly brought back memories of that ridiculous music curriculum we had when I was in first grade, with the nice lady visiting our classrooms and making us recite ta, ta, tee-tee ta. Even then I felt ridiculous doing it. So, a question for the music pedagogy major: it true that whole system was invented by Carl Orff?

Nope! The vocalizing of rhythms you did was probably the Kodaly method (which I've never really come into contact with besides just knowing what it is.) the Orff method uses some of that at the beginning, but the most recognizable and important part of it is the use of percussion instruments, usually pitched ones. Orff ensembles usually involve a lot of kids playing on xylophones and glockenspiels.

Aww, we could've used some glockenspiels and xylophones! Thank you for satisfying my curiosity, though, and good luck with your paper.
