Don't all people have some black ancestry if you go back far enough?

Seeing as the roots of our evolution started in Africa I'm going to go ahead and say yeah.

well technically everyone is African if you go back thousands of years but I don't think this is what you meant...

I kind of assumed that's exactly what anon meant....what else would they mean?

Ancient African =/= black? Or at least not the definition of "black" that we use today?

I thought "black" was more a cultural term than a physical descriptor. I could be wrong, though, I'm not an expert. ;-;

True true, but genetic drift usually creates enough information to identify distinct geographical patterns. The most probable explanation for the result is one or more Sub-Saharan African ancestors in the last few hundred years.

I doubt that will stop them from being racist, especially such an arbitrary percentage that would imply it being in their great grandparents or something, which isn't exactly a great distance

My quick math puts it at great grandparent, which means he would be in the same category under Jim Crow laws as Homer Plessy, who was arrested for riding in the wrong train car in 1892.

Which probably means he ought to be excluded from his own all-white community he's trying to start up.

In a perfect world it would knock some sense into him so he can see how stupid it all is.

DNA results no doubt says he shares 50% of his chromosomes with females. Won't stop him from being sexist

That's not how DNA testing works

Well, he shares 50% of his genetic material with his mother (technically a little bit more than 50% because mitochondrial DNA is always completely maternal). But he shares almost all of his DNA with "females" at large, since only one chromosome is distinctly different between male and female humans.

(Just being nitpicky. I definitely see and agree with your point :P )

As hilarious as I thought that was, I wouldn't be surprised if the results were fabricated for the effect. Kinda skeptical, but if it's true, that is so great. Probably won't stop him from being racist, though, if anything he might start playing the victim or the "black authority" card.

The problem is this is almost certainly as fake and scripted as every other show like this.

I'm not sure why he'd agree to it, is the thing.
