I think you're confusing different meanings of judging. It's one thing to be understanding about the difficulties people have with foreign languages but it's another thing entirely to think no one is allowed to correct a work they decided to share publicly. Letting someone believe their foreign language writing is flawless won't do them any good. If you're nice about it and they take badly, it's their problem that they don't care about improving. They should be trying to improve, not just do what they can and have everyone pat them on their back. I worked my ass off learning English and I find this idea that foreign speakers' mistakes are off-limits baffling, condescending and counterproductive.

Exactly. It is one thing to think that someone who doesn't speak/write perfect English is somehow dumb or lazy or not trying. That sort of judging would be wrong. I don't think that is what you are doing. (I could be wrong though)

However, trying to help someone improve their grasp on English so s/he can better communicate in an English speaking fandom - then that is OK.
