Again your experiences/circumstances =/= mine. I'm actually very relaxed about other people's English and supportive of them in this respect in real life. I never correct or critcise anybody. It just annoys the hell out of me when people without a certain level of skill write fics.

I'm not sure while you insist I be perfect in every little aspect ever. I am allowed flaws that do not actually hurt anybody.

And I totally used that subjunctive to flaunt my priviledge - not sure when personal effort and hard work became that, but hokay, be it your way.

Ahh hubris. "While" should be "why".

And I may be in the wrong mood for the discussion, I am not hals as aggressive about the subject as I may come across. Just let people be not perfect in their heads. Just a tad less self-righteous.

That will be EOT and good night from me.

I'm assuming hals should be half?

Well, I certainly hope that's the case. Just remember what I said if you should ever end up working with someone whose skill level underwhelms you. The situation doesn't change just because it's no longer about fanfiction; if anything, you'd probably be more annoyed because this person's ability or lack thereof might potentially affect your own performance. It becomes a bad habit so easily.

Wow, you sure are full of yourself. I'm a non-native speaker as well and it annoys me to see bad English in fandom. I don't care if the fan is a native speaker or not, if they are a prolific writer or often participate in discussions and their English is both bad and shows no sign of improvement at all I get irrationally ticked off.

That said, I have worked with a lot of people whose English skills were adequate at best - non-existent at worst - and I had no problems working with them. As anon above said, your experience != everyone else's experience. So you apparently had to adjust; whatever, some of us are quite capable of both silently fuming at a computer screen and working with non-native English speakers on a professional (even academic! *le gasp*) level.

See, but that's really strange to me. If you're capable of withholding judgement in a professional setting, where the stakes are much higher, why can't you do the same for your fellow fans? Fandom doesn't have a job description; nowhere does it say "Must be at thisjust don't care to. And a tendency to judge will just get worse over time, we are never as good at categorizing as we'd like to think.
