2- I will always laugh at the people who pretend to like something that they don't (or vice versa) just to please the people on their friends list.
Seriously, grow a spine or get friends who can accept other people's opinions better. People who will hate you for liking/disliking a pairing are shallow and stupid anyway, why go to so much effort to keep them happy?

19- People who honestly and unironically write/draw Transformers porn scare the hell out of me. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

2. Maybe because there are other things than 'just pairings' between people? I mean, shit. Most of my flist is composed of yaoi retards, but they're awesome friends. I just know there are some things I can't share with them (lj filter tiem) but I'm not going to let fandom ship shit ruin friendship. Then again, they tolerate it, they just won't go 'Yeah that's a great pairing' with me.

Now if we're talking fandom friends who froth shipping at the mouth and turn rabid at the menton of an opposing ship, then yes, I agree they should be cut.

I guess what I'm getting at is...well...it's YOUR LJ. I don't see why people feel the need to censor themselves in their own personal journal. If other people don't like it, they always have the choice not to read or comment.

Sorry that the whole world isn't as tolerant as you would like. Sorry to say, but my friend grew up in a very, very conservative home.

And before you go off and say "then why are you friends with her", let me tell YOU that you do not decide who I am and am not friends with. Mild homophobia aside, she's an EXCELLENT friend and I'm a lot more inclined to take her side than some anonymous stranger.

So please don't be telling me what to do about my friends.

Nobody should ever feel the need to censor themselves for the benefit of someone else. Especially not over something as fickle as liking a yaoi pairing. It's not the end of the world for either you or her and if it would actually have such a huge impact on her that she'd freak out over it, then maybe she's long overdue for learning that not everyone will pander to the way she was raised.

For the record, I don't like yaoi either. But if my friends post about it, I don't get upset or post a bitchy comment or freak out about it. I scroll past and move on.
I see a lot of "my friends would freak out if they found out I *insert really stupid, insignificant thing here that shouldn't impact friendships in any way*" secrets. People need to stop pandering to each other and realise that their personal LJs are their space. So what if your friends don't agree with something you like? The world would be boring if we all agreed with each other all the time and people who can't accept something as small as a difference in opinion over PORN should learn that sooner rather than later.
