I'm wracking my brains for more recs for you.
Applejack from My Little Pony is a goodhearted badass.
And if you don't mind cartoons, so are a few versions of Arcee from Transformers. The G1 (American! Not Japanese!) cartoon version is kickass and tenderhearted, although she's not much of a focus in most episodes. And Arcee in TF Prime is kickass and defined by her loyalty and capacity for love. Imo, anyway.
Susan Strong from Adventure Time is only in a couple eps, but she qualifies. Especially in 'Beautopia.' She has to be a real hero there.

The fact that I saw characters and story and negative space wedgies and not the role reversal the first time around only proves they did it well and didn't wave it around like it was a Thing.

Sigh. So underrated. One of the best sci-fi dramas of all time.
