I didn't notice until the second time I was watching Farscape that Aeryn and Crichton have something of a role reversal going on. He's always getting himself into trouble and she's saving his sorry arse every second episode.
The fact that I saw characters and story and negative space wedgies and not the role reversal the first time around only proves they did it well and didn't wave it around like it was a Thing.

I got the role reversal the first time and it's part of what made me love the series, but the fact that they didn't make it into, well, a "thing" or wave it around - the writers, the characters, and the setting treat it as perfectly natural - just made me respect them that much more.

Sigh. So underrated. One of the best sci-fi dramas of all time.
