"We all fangirl over"

NOT ALL. Hiddle-fans and Loki-apologists have made me loathe both the character and the actor.

I'd rather see a movie about a maggoty cheeseburger.

Right? I love how there is an assumption that EVERYONE LOVES LOKI. Which, I mean, is just not true. I like Loki well enough, I guess, but he's far, far from my favorite character. And tbh my liking for him is deteriorating daily.

I've never understood this. Like, he's all over my dash too, and I don't really care about him, but I see tons of people squeeing and fangirling and I'm just like..."Hey, they're having fun. That's nice." Is that honestly so hard? It seems like so much effort to hate people because they like something you don't.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-19 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
You misunderstand. I don't waste energy hating people who like what they like, as long as they stop shoving the shit in my face screaming ZOMGITSSOAWESOMEDONTYOUTHINKITSAWESOMEWHAT?TYOUDONTTHINKITSAWESOME?WHATISWRONGWITHYOUWTFBBQ???!!!

(Anonymous) 2013-11-19 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
But has someone legitimately singled you out and one-on-one said that to you? Or are we talking about the "if you don't like [X] you're wrong" posts that are aimed at a broad audience? In the first instance, I could understand being annoyed by that person, but not by the entire fandom. In the second case, it's hyperbole.

I just don't like people painting entire swathes of people with one paintbrush due to the actions of a few individuals.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-19 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
You just painted people who dislike a character/actor as spending effort on hating someone and claimed to not understand it

(Anonymous) 2013-11-19 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
A few bad apples spoil the whole bunch.

If you don't want stuff you may not like or be interested in shoved in your face, Tumblr may be the wrong platform for you.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-19 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
You are under the misconcepton that Tumblr is the only place the Hiddloki fans flock?

Wrong.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-19 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
...How is there effort involved in disliking something that keeps showing on your dash because people won't tag? Seriously it's not like we're making hate blogs, we're just getting sick of the oversaturation of Loki/Hiddleston. Especially if you've got friends who want to "share the love" and keep trying to get you to go see the movie about the characters you don't care about. What's not to understand that some people don't. like. a. thing. and will move into outright dislike if it keeps being pushed on them.

Unless you're somehow perfect and have never ever been irritated by something been force fed to you over and over

(Anonymous) 2013-11-19 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
I'm this to some degree. I still like the character, but I used to really like the character. But the over-zealous Loki-lovers turned me off with the over-the-top hate for any character who was "OMG! SO MEAN!!!" to "poor widdle, Loki-poo" I think if I had stayed in Thor fandom much longer, it would have made me dislike the character outright.

At one point, I wanted a Loki movie. Not now, though.
